Pope’s Christmas plea for ‘immediate end to senseless war’

Pope Francis has made a plea for peace in his annual Christmas Day message from the Vatican.

Referencing the battle in Ukraine, he stated: ‘Could the Lord… encourage the minds of those that have the ability to silence the thunder of weapons and put a direct finish to this mindless warfare.”

Whereas the warfare in Ukraine occupied a lot of his 10-minute speech, he additionally spoke of “a grave famine of peace additionally in different areas and different theatres of this Third World Warfare”.

He singled out conflicts and humanitarian crises within the Center East, Myanmar, Haiti, and the Sahel area of Africa.
